Children in Worship

Children are encouraged to stay in worship and fully participate in the service.  Most servies feature a Children’s Message, which gives the children an opportunity to hear an age appropriate message and be an active participant.

Activity Bags are available in the narthex to help children become accustomed to being in worship.  Each bag includes several quiet activities.

Nursery care is available for infants to three year olds in the Nursery from 7:45 to 11:30 am on Sunday mornings.  The nursery is on the 2nd floor near the library.

Acolytes lead the worship participants into the Sanctuary and light the altar candles.  Children are eligible to begin serving as acolytes in the third grade.  If your child is interested in being an acolyte fill out the form at the left.

Communion Services are held on the first Sunday of each month at all services.  Children are invited and encourage to participate.  If preferred, those serving Communion can bless your child instead of giving them communion.

For the budding vocalist, children are invited be be part of Chorister Choir.

Children are also a part of the Flowering of the Cross at Easter and the Christmas Pageant during Advent.

Flowering of the Cross

This annual tradition transforms the old rugged cross into a living and beautiful symbol of Christ.  On Easter Sunday during the Children’s Sermon the children attach flowers to the cross and then as the congregation sings Easter hymns the cross is raised as a symbol of Christ’s eternal life.  It is a powerful moment in our Easter service and all children are encouraged to come forward for the Flowering of the Cross.
