The Great Bar Cookie Bake-Off — February 18
We hope that everyone is pondering their submission to the Great Bar Cookie bake-off or dreaming of eating the entries. Below are the essential details:
Bring your bars to Fellowship Hall on Sunday, February 18, by 10:15 sharp.
- How to Present the Bars
• Please cut your bars into serving sizes.
• Present your bars on a tray or large plate. Fellowship Hall has lots of serving platters, so you can use one of those if you wish. However, if you plan to do this, make sure you have your bars arranged and on the table by 10:15 a.m.
• Important: Please bring a little tag or placard with the name of your bar cookie recipe on one side, and your name, email address, and phone number on the other. You’ll place this card, recipe name up, by your tray of cookies. Your cookies will be judged “blind.”
If you place first, second, or third in this contest, we will ask you to share your recipe with us for an upcoming cookbook. So, if you have any closely-guarded secret recipes that you do not wish to share, it would be best if you did not make them for this competition.
- About the Judging
We are honored that Christina Moffatt, nationally renown pastry chef and owner of Creme Cupcake, will be our judge. She will do the judging during the 10:15 service, and will announce the three top winners during our after-service fellowship time. Please join us!
- Are There Prizes?
Yes! We’re rustling up prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Plus, you’ll have bragging rights and the admiration of your peers–we have lots of great cooks in the Grace community.
- What Will You Do with the Extra Bars?
We’ll serve the bars during our post-service coffee fellowship time. Leftover bars will be frozen and served at upcoming Free Medical Clinic Dinners on Tuesday nights, as well as some of the upcoming Soup and Sermon lunches on Wednesdays during Lent.
