Vacation Bible School

Glory to God who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us! Ephesians 3:20

Grace United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School

To Mars and Beyond

Sunday, June 16th through Thursday, June 20th

5:15 pm to 7:45 pm

For ages 3 years old (and using the potty)

through 5th grade during the 2017-18 school year

Join us for an adventure with God that is full of wonder and surprise!  We will learn about the call of the Disciples, Mary, Martha, Zacchaeus, the Last Supper and the Great Commission during VBS.  As we venture down the river we will find adventure, acceptance, joy, rest and peace as we visit our various stations.  Other stations along the river include Bible stories, music, science and crafts.  It’s a fun way to learn how to follow Christ and apply the Bible stories to their lives.  Our mission focus will be on raising money to purchase rabbits through Heifer International while learning about the Ukraine.

We start with dinner for our rafters and their families at 5:15 p.m. There is no cost, but please register in advance so that we can have plenty of supplies and volunteers ready.

REGISTER ONLINE by visiting our REGISTRATION PAGE. There is NO COST to attend our VBS so that we can share the love of God with everyone.

You can also download the registration form and turn it in at the church office or mail it to 3700 Cottage Grove, Des Moines, IA 50311.

Contact Coreen Witke, Director of Christian Education, at or at 255-6400 ext. 230 for more information.

VBS Volunteers Needed

There are a variety of opportunities for adults to share their faith during Vacation Bible School.  We need Adventure Guides to take small groups of children to each activity, a puppeteer for our adorable puppet Romper, and folks to work in the kitchen making and serving meals, to mention a few of the roles which need to be filled.  Please contact Coreen Witke at or 515-255-6400, ext. 230 to learn more about this adventure!
