Helping the Free Store Help Families In Need

The four of us (Roger and Diane Munns, Dave Busiek and Laura Sands) are regular volunteers of the Free Store, a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.  The Free Store supports children and families who have escaped abusive situations. We provide donated furniture and household goods to clients of domestic violence services and other agencies as these families begin new independent, productive lives in safe environments. Currently the Free Store is low on some items much needed by families starting over.  We are looking for kitchen ware, especially pots and pans and serving bowls.  We accept a wide range of furniture and bedding, but now we are especially low on kitchen tables, chairs, and dressers. You can schedule a home pick-up of furniture for donation by calling 515.282.3733.  The Free Store accepts other donations 9-11:00 AM on Tuesday and Friday.  For more information about the Free Store, please visit http://www.thefreestore.org/

Other items that we receive and redistribute to families in need include vacuum cleaners, lamps, end tables, coffee tables, towels, bedsheets (queen and twin size only, please), kitchen utensils, kitchen linens, blenders, toasters, coffee makers, and slow cookers.

We hope you will consider donating gently used furniture and other household items to assist families in need.  Please call Laura Sands at 515.279.3424 if you have questions about the Free Store.
