Worship at Grace!

All Are Welcome Here Because Grace is For Everyone

Read Our Welcoming Statement

We celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status.

We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.

We are all invited to bless this church with our love, our presence, and our participation.

Approved by the Grace UMC Administrative Board Thursday, June 24, 2016.

Finding Grace!

We are located at 3700 Cottage Grove at the corner of 37th Street and Cottage Grove in Des Moines.

We have two parking lots, one just east of the church on 37th Street, and one behind the church to the south with entrances from 37th and 38th Streets. You may enter the church through doors on every side of the church.

You can now take the bus to Grace. Route 3, University and Route 60, University/Ingersoll stop just one block from us at 37th and University.

Need a ride, the Grace church bus can pick you up.  Call the church office (515-255-2131) to request a ride.

Children in Worship

Children are encouraged to stay in worship and fully participate in the service.  Most servies feature a Children’s Message, which gives the children an opportunity to hear an age appropriate message and be an active participant.

Activity Bags are available in the narthex to help children become accustomed to being in worship.  Each bag includes several quiet activities.

Nursery care is available for infants to three year olds in the Nursery from 7:45 to 11:30 am on Sunday mornings.  The nursery is on the 2nd floor near the library.

Make Music With Grace

What kind of music do we love at Grace?

All kinds!  From the traditional hymns of our red United Methodist Hymnal to the more contemporary music of the little black hymnal The Faith We Sing or the green hymnal Worship and Song.

Love music? Love to sing?  Why not join one of our choirs? We’d love to have you. No experience is necessary.  We have choirs for all ages.  Click on choir picture to learn more about music at Grace

Help With Worship

  • Acolytes lead the worship participants into the Sanctuary and light the altar candles.  Children are eligible to begin serving as acolytes in the third grade.
  • Ushers, Liturgists, and Greeters are needed for all services.
  • Help with Hospitality Time by signing up to Host.
  • More of an outdoor person help by putting out our Parking Signs before and after services.

Contact the church office if you would like to help in any of these roles.
